Geotechnical Project Engineer / Senior Project Engineer
Earth Mechanics, Inc. is seeking a Geotechnical Project Engineer / Senior Project Engineer to join our established and expanding practice. This position offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a diverse portfolio of transportation infrastructure projects, including bridges, highways, rail and transit systems, ports, airports, and flood control facilities.

Qualifications & Skills
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support geotechnical field investigations, including drilling oversight, soil sampling, and laboratory testing programs.
Perform geotechnical analyses and prepare designs for foundations, slopes, embankments, retaining structures, pavements, and other infrastructure elements.
Conduct geotechnical evaluations such as seismic hazard analyses, liquefaction and settlement studies, slope stability assessments, and deep/shallow foundation design.
Prepare and review geotechnical reports, calculations, and technical memoranda using industry-standard tools.
Manage project tasks, direct field and office staff, and review deliverables for technical accuracy and consistency.
Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to ensure quality, compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and effective client communication.
Provide QA/QC support and contribute to proposals, marketing, and business development efforts as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
California Geotechnical Engineer (GE) license.
Familiarity with Caltrans standards, specifications, and design procedures.
Proficiency with geotechnical analysis and design software (e.g., gINT, LPILE, SHAFT, SLIDE, SETTLE3D, APILE, CalME), as well as drafting and productivity tools (MicroStation, AutoCAD, MS Office).
Strong communication skills with a proactive, collaborative approach to project delivery.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
California Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Authorization to work in the United States.
Valid U.S. driver’s license (required for fieldwork and inter-office travel).
