Crenshaw/LAX Transit Light Rail Corridor

The Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor project alignment runs north-south and extends approximately 8.5 miles in Los Angeles, California. The project alignment will be double-tracked and will be comprised of at-grade, aerial, and below-grade sections.

EMI provided geotechnical engineering for the Advanced Planning Study and Preliminary Engineering phases. Final design and construction were carried out with a design-build delivery method. The geotechnical services provided for this project included the following tasks:

  • Field investigation (exploratory borings)
  • Geotechnical in-situ soil testing and laboratory testing
  • Chemical analysis of soil and water samples for hazardous materials
  • Faulting crossing study using geophysical sounding and borings
  • Geotechnical engineering to for foundation design and construction
  • Preparation of preliminary geotechnical reports.
