Lino Cheang, PE, GE, Co-Founder

Senior Consultant

Mr. Cheang was the co-founder of Earth Mechanics, Inc. and now serves as a Senior Consultant. He has accumulated 40 years of geotechnical and earthquake engineering experience while providing foundation design services for nearly 1,000 new, replaced, and widened structures for various transportation and public works agencies. These structures include railroad bridges, major water crossings, long viaducts, and over/under crossings at major interchanges. In addition to bridge foundations, his design experience and expertise on these projects includes retaining walls, sound walls, roadway embankments, and pavement structural sections. With this vast experience, Mr. Cheang has developed a strong familiarity with state (Caltrans) and federal transportation structure design philosophies and guidelines.

Mr. Cheang earned his M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas, Austin, and is a registered Civil and Geotechnical Engineer in California. Mr. Cheang is also a part-time lecturer at California State University, Long Beach, teaching courses in geotechnical engineering.
